The Leesa mattress is all over the internet these days, and I’ve heard plenty of sponsored bloggers say that they really and truly do like their mattresses, though they be paid to write about them. I believed them enough to take a chance and use their return policy if needed. My previous mattress is 15 years old and has a slump in the middle, so it’s definitely time.
But I thought I would take advantage of the fact that I am not endorsed by the company to share my experience thus far with said mattress. (I did get $100 off with a code from this blog post). It arrived well. It went from flat to three dimensional in no time flat (pun, haha). The box mentions that “any slight harmless odor will soon dissipate”.
It’s been 24 hours since I unwrapped it, with windows open and a fan going and it is still giving off it’s “odor”. I don’t want to put bedding on it until it’s done off-gassing (no need to have that trapped in my bedding/the air I breathe while sleeping), so I have yet to see whether it’s comfortable to sleep on. That will have to wait for part 2.
I’ve been trying to implement some ideas from the book Sleep Smarter. The mattress that author recommends is about $3,000 more than I was planning on, and the smallest size they have is a queen. Maybe I’ll spring for that once I’m married and have someone to share the bed with :). At any rate, he (the author) does express caution about the chemicals found in mattresses, and my experience with this mattress is feeding that fear just a little.
All the same, though, I really hope this mattress works out, though, because I do not want to go back to mattress shopping. I just want a comfortable place to sleep.
